The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management undertook extensive humanitarian assistance efforts in February 2024 to aid those most impacted by the ongoing revolution. Utilizing public donations, the Ministry disbursed a total of 350.2 million kyats over the one-month period.
The humanitarian assistance provided in February included:
- 183 million kyats for emergency food and non food supplies for 109,404 displaced people
- 38 million kyats in emergency aid for 196 civilians killed and 358 injured in conflicts
- 15.6 million kyats in emergency assistance for staff participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement
- 2.6 million kyats in emergency aid for political prisoners and their families
- 111 million kyats for general humanitarian relief efforts
Despite immense challenges during this more than 3-year revolution, the Ministry and the people remain resolute in their pursuit of freedom. The provision of these humanitarian efforts demonstrates the unity and perseverance of the nation.
The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing life-saving humanitarian assistance to all those adversely affected by the conflicts. Together with the people’s support, we will overcome all hardships.
