Meeting with Korean National Assemblyman Ji Seong-ho, Senior Pastor and the Chief of United Christian Churches of Korea (UCCK) So Kang-suk and Myanmar representatives in Korea

Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye held a video conference with Korean National Assemblyman Ji Seong-ho, Senior Pastor and the Chief of United Christian Churches of Korea (UCCK) So Kang-suk and Myanmar representatives in Korea on May 31st. In the meeting, discussions were made on the situation of Myanmar’s internally displaced persons (IDPs), to provide humanitarian assistance and shelters for IDPs, and steps towards legal recognition of National Unity Government Myanmar (NUG).

Three online meetings have already been held between NUG, South Korean National Assemblymen, UCCK’s chief, and Myanmar societies in South Korea. Through discussions and collaborations, the Republic of Korea has attained a better understanding of the unstable and changing situations in Myanmar and the hardship that Myanmar people have been suffering since the Military Coup.

Sympathising with their own past experience, Korean National Assemblymen and the people of the Republic of Korea vowed to cooperate in Myanmar’s effort to overthrow the Military Junta and to continue to work together to accelerate the return of humanitarian rights and democracy to the people of Myanmar.
